A beloved French bistro returns, Neom opens on Bleecker Street, more NYC events

What’s making our luxury list this week? A beloved UK wellness brand opens on Bleecker Street, Todd Snyder debuts another collaboration and a legendary French Bistro UES is back, baby!

Grace Kelly met Oleg Cassini here. James Beard, Jacqueline Onassis and Marlene Dietrich had home accounts. Since Le Veau d’Or opened its doors in 1937, the famous restaurant has been owned by three families, won many accolades and has become a neighborhood staple. Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr (of Frenchette, Le Rock and others) would routinely call one of the last owners to see if she would consider selling. In 2019 she finally said yes. Pandemic-related delays ensued; the restaurant (which is New York’s longest-running French bistro) opened last month. The menu, as before, remains a fixed price with a choice of 10 appetizers, 10 entrees and 5 desserts. One big change: previously consumers could only choose from a red or white wine. It now has a 100-bottle wine list developed by James Beard-nominated wine director Jorge Riera. The $125 prix fixe includes an appetizer, entree and dessert. LVDNYC.com

Fans of Naturopathica, one of the OGs of pure beauty brands, will no doubt rejoice at the news of a third New York City spa location, at the Chatwal Hotel downtown. Signature treatments include botanical facials using the brand’s signature skincare products (we’re fans), massage, detoxifying body treatments including wraps, scrubs and lymphatic drainage, and wellness rituals including aromatherapy and hydrotherapy . Todd Snyder has created a seven-piece capsule collection for John Hardy inspired by a mutual appreciation of and for the sea. John Hardy x Todd Snyder’s pieces – pendants, bracelets and signet rings – pay homage to the East Coast’s maritime heritage and are created using a new “tumbled archive” finish. Snyder notes that “the new exclusive finish almost feels like it’s weathered by the sea air. You can’t ask for more of a summer vibe than that!” Ranging in price from $550 to $995, the collection available at Todd Snyder and John Hardy at select retail locations and online.

“Something in the Water: Expanding the Walls 2024,” which debuted last month, showcases the work of sixteen artists in this year’s photography program for teenagers at the Studio Museum in Harlem. This edition of the annual exhibition explores themes of place, space and personal change. “Each of these sixteen young photographers has beautifully captured what it means to navigate change, whether it’s for the urban landscape and communities around them or the personal transformations they’re living through. They do this by finding ways to focus their focus on the everyday moments they share between their families, their peers and their city,” noted Thelma Golden, the museum’s Director and Chief Curator. Neom is an organic beauty and home fragrance company founded in the UK almost two decades ago by former journalist Nicola Elliott. In the years since, it has developed a cult following and earned B Corp certification. A few weeks ago, they opened their first Wellbeing Hub this side of the pond, on Bleecker Street in the West Village. The 481 square meter showcase is divided into categories based on wellness goals – better sleep, less stress, more energy and improved mood – and stocked with products including home fragrance, bath and body, and electric diffusers , called “welfare pisca”.
